Atami Station

 

Atami Station (熱海駅) is located in Atami city in Shizuoka prefecture. This station is the main station of Atami city, known as a hot spring town, located in the eastern part of Shizuoka prefecture.

Atami Station welcomes many tourists who enjoy hot springs. Because Atami city can be accessed from Tokyo easily by Shinkansen, many people in Tokyo area visit Atami city on weekends for enjoying hot springs.

And, there is a beach in Atami city, Atami Sun Beach. Therefore, people visit Atami city for sea bathing in summer.

Since it takes less than 1 hour from Tokyo area, it is possible to enjoy a day trip to Atami from Tokyo.

Shops and Restaurants

There is a commercial facility, LUSCA Atami, connected to Atami Station. This facility has more than 30 shops and restaurants including souvenir shops. And, there is a BBQ terrace on the roof top floor.

There are shops selling Atami's local specialties. And some shops are tax-free.

There are several shopping streets around Atami Station. At shopping streets, there are many shops selling local specialties, including local food. Some shops have space to eat with tables and chairs.

There is a footbath, Ieyasu no Yu, in front of the station. It is open from 9am to 4pm and it is free. There is a vending machine selling towels.

 

Hotels

Since Atami city is a hot spring town, there are many hotels including ryokan, Japanese style hotels, around Atami Station.
