Omiya Station

 

Omiya Station (大宮駅) is located in Omiya-ku of Saitama city, Saitama prefecture. It is the biggest terminal station in Saitama prefecture with many Shinkansen lines connected.

Since Omiya Station can be accessed easily from some big stations in Tokyo area, such as Shinjuku Station and Ikebukuro Station, people taking some Shinkansen lines use Omiya Station, instead of going to Tokyo Station.

From Airport

Airports for Saitama prefecture are Haneda International Airport and Narita Airport.
From Haneda International Airport, it is convenient to take Shinkansen from Tokyo Station.
From Narita Airport, it is convenient to take Shinkansen from Tokyo Station or Ueno Station.

As Omiya Station is located in the biggest commercial district, there are many shops and restaurants, including department stores, around the station.
Ecute Omiya is a commercial facility at Omiya Station. It has shops, bakeries, cafes, and restaurants. It is located inside of train gates. Therefore, this facility is convenient when transfer trains.
There is a department store, Lumine Omiya, directly connected to Omiya Station. It has shops of fashion, accessories, glasses, shoes, bags, cosmetics and more. Lumine Omiya also has cafes, restaurants, and shops selling sweets and food.

Omiya Marui is a department store located in front of Omiya Station and can be accessed by 2-minute walking from the station. It has many shops and restaurants/cafe.
