Tokyo Station
Overview
Tokyo Station (東京駅) is located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. It is the most famous station in Japan.
Tokyo Station is the main rail terminal in Tokyo area with manly lines connected, including major Shinkansen lines. Because there are many local and Shinkansen lines connected at Tokyo Station, the number of platforms at Tokyo Station is the largest in Japan.
According to a survey done by NTT RESONANT, Tokyo Station is the most difficult station to transfer in Tokyo.
As many Shinkansen trains and local trains stop at Tokyo Station, the station is often very crowded. For weekdays, a lot of business persons use Tokyo Station. And, for weekends, a lot of tourists use Tokyo Station.

There are many shops and restaurants inside and around Tokyo Station, including souvenirs shops and shops selling bento box (lunch box). There are also coffee stands and vending machines inside the station.
It is easy to find shops and restaurants at Tokyo Station. And, there are shops selling bento box (lunch box) around gates. Therefore, it is not difficult to get food and beverages for Shinkansen ride. However, some shops maybe very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. It is better to have enough time to explore Tokyo Station before riding Shinkansen.
